Peruvian Aji Verde Sauce
My new favorite summer sauce, this spicy Peruvian green sauce is perfect for anything you put on the grill. Aji verde sauce is great on meats, veggies, breads, french fries or even as a salad dressing if you are adventurous! Aji means chili pepper, and this spicy green sauce is made with jalapeño. Please note, this recipe is not authentic, it is only my version that uses similar ingredients that you would find in an aji verde sauce. Traditional aji verde is made wit huacatay, or black mint. Black mint is a difficult herb to find in the US, so I used mint instead. Not exactly the same, but I…

Strawberry Nice Cream
What is your favorite nice cream flavor? My whole family loves nice cream, and strawberry is one of our top favorites. If you have not tried nice cream before, it is similar to ice cream except instead of heavy whipping cream, frozen bananas are used to make a creamy base. Then, it is flavored with any flavorings you want! The key to perfect nice cream that doesn’t turn out to be a drippy mess is frozen ingredients and a good appliance. I have used a few different blenders/appliances to make nice cream, and hands down the Thermomix® is the best – it is a beast! The motor handles the frozen…

Cauliflower Fried Rice
Forget take-out and make this super simple, delicious and healthy cauliflower fried rice in under 20 minutes! Keep it vegan or add scrambled eggs or chicken for protein. Cauliflower alone is very plain and does not have a strong taste. In this recipe, it is first “riced” and then fried in oil and flavored with garlic, liquid aminos (a substitute for soy sauce) and sesame oil. To rice the cauliflower, I use my Thermomix®. You can literally throw a head of cauliflower into it and it will rice it in 4 seconds flat. Impressive! If you do not own one, you can use a food processor. There is a debate…

Homemade Play Dough
We were down to Leila’s last Play-Doh® container, and it was already starting to dry out. After seeing her disappointment as the fun was soon coming to an end, I had an idea – what if we make our own play dough from scratch? Leila was so excited to help make it with ingredients from our own pantry. This recipe is very easy to do, and you only need a few ingredients: flour, salt, oil, water and cream of tartar (optional, it helps with elasticity). I made my homemade play dough in my Thermomix®, since it has a kneading function for doughs and is super easy. It also has a…

Everyday Whole Wheat Walnut Bread
Like many others at home these days during the pandemic, I have been baking a lot of my own bread loaves at home. I have tried baking my own bread in the past, but it always came out very different than the bread I could buy at the store with much less effort. After I got my Thermomix®, I suddenly found my passion for baking homemade bread again using the guided bread recipes on Cookidoo® recipe database that have been tested and pretty much fool proof. It is so satisfying to get a delicious result! A few months ago, my mother-in-law was visiting and she showed me one of her…
