Chocolate Oatmeal
On the weekends I like to treat myself and my family to a special breakfast. I try to think of something new every weekend, but also have a lot of delicious recipes in rotation. This chocolate oatmeal recipe is a family favorite, and goes great with fresh berries. The berries add a cool, refreshing taste, especially in the summertime! Oatmeal is really easy to cook in the Thermomix®, and I love that I can make different varieties by adding different ingredients. One time I made an apple maple pecan oatmeal, another I made peaches and cream, and one of my other favorites is blueberry cinnamon. The oatmeal possibilities are endless! Just add all of your ingredients to the Thermomix® bowl, set and go! If you are cooking stove top, you will just need to stir continuously to make sure the ingredients do not burn at the bottom (another advantage of the Thermomix®).
I use unsweetened cacao powder and use a little maple syrup for my sweetener. Vanilla extract and a pinch of salt gives these chocolate oats more layers of flavors. If you want an extra treat, drizzle with chocolate syrup or crumble brownies on top!
